The current rules of certification cover patrol, tracking, narcotics, explosive, wildlife, accelerant and cadaver dog testing. These rules are good only till December 31st, 2008. New rules will be sent out in January 2009.

8. Physical removal of K-9 during Criminal apprehension Phases:
A K-9 team may not certify if the physical removal of the K-9 was necessary during all three scheduled apprehension exercises (in order to certify, one verbal call off is necessary). Physical removal of K-9 during the False Start, Recall and Search phases will not be included.
