Students who successfully complete this training will be able to apply tactical tracking skills in remote backcountry settings and urban environments. These skills will aid in fugitive apprehension, border security, locating missing persons, poachers, as well as search and rescue operations.
The instructors are experienced law enforcement officers who have attended the two week man tracking school and have participated in numerous real life man tracking events.
The students will learn how to read and interpret tracks as well as other signs left by the quarry being pursued. Students will learn the basics of aging tracks and determining other action indicators left by the quarry being pursued.
The program emphasizes the ability to work as a team or individually and canine application in tactical tracking. Students will also learn team movements and formations that lend to the safety of the Tracking Team and assist in the speed and efficiency of following up on a set of tracks. This course will enhance the K9 handler’s ability to provide assistance to their canine partner in difficult tracking conditions caused by terrain, time or experienced suspects. This is a physically demanding course and students should come prepared to spend 8+ hours in the field everyday.
