Officer Ploumen and K-9 Falco of the Brooklyn Park Police Department

On 09-23-09 at 0107 hours Officer Ploumen and K-9 Falco responded to a report of a robbery/assault in progress.  A witness called 911 and stated 3 white males were beating up a black male in the street in front of her house and yelling racial slurs.  When the first officer arrived on scene they found the victim standing nude in the street.  The victim who was autistic advised that he had been beat up and robbed while bicycling home.  The suspect s who robbed him were yelling racial slurs and 2 of the 3 were armed.  One suspect had a handgun and another had an axe.  During the robbery they made him take off all his clothes and took his wallet and cell phone.  During the robbery they assaulted him and also made death threats against President Obama and his family.  The suspects were last seen getting into a small 4 door black car and leave south bound from the area.  Both the victim and the witness who called 911 advised they could identify the suspects and the vehicle.

Officer Ploumen arrived in the area and began checking a residential just south of where the robbery had taken place.  Approximately 6 blocks away he came upon a 2nd robbery in progress.  He observed 3 white males attacking a black male.  Officer Ploumen was able to take one of the suspects into custody at this scene however 2 of the males fled west on foot into a residential area.  The victim of the 2nd assault stated he was walking home from the bus stop after getting off of work and was approached by the 3 suspects.  Two of the suspects were armed, one with a handgun and another with an axe.  They ordered him to take off his clothes and give up his wallet.  They were also making racial slurs during the robbery.  Officer Ploumen interrupted the robbery and the suspect began to run. 

Officer Ploumen brought his K-9 Falco to the area where he observed the suspects run.  Falco alerted to a track west bound into a residential area.  Approximately 3 houses west Falco located to a white t-shirt under a deck.  Falco in this yard began to indicate to a track southbound and to track west bound.  Falco continued on the track west bound.  This track continued in a residential area for 4 blocks.  Falco came around a fence and apprehended a male hiding.  Falco apprehended the suspect  near his right upper thigh area.  The suspect was positively identified by Officer Ploumen and the 2 victims as one of the suspects in the robbery.  Officer Ploumen brought Falco back to where he believed the suspects split up.  Falco alerted to a track south bound across 68th Av and then east away from where the first suspect had fled.  Falco continued tracking east bound through a residential area approximately 13 blocks and lost the track near 69th av and Unity Ln.  This was approximately 6 blocks outside of the perimeter which had been established. 

The suspect who had been apprehended by the K-9 gave information which led to the arrest of the 3rd suspect several days after the incident.  He had fled home after the robbery which was approximately 1 block away from where the K-9 had lost the track.  All 3 suspects are being charge with bias motivated crimes including Armed Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault.  The case is also being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service due to the threats that were made to the victims about harming the President and his family.

Officer Vinson and K-9 Earl of the Fargo Police Department

On 07-29-09 Officer Vinson and his K-9 partner, Earl, were requested to sniff a suspicious package by a postal inspector.  When Vinson arrived he observed the postal inspector had place out 4 packages in a room to be sniffed.  Vinson brought his K-9, Earl to the room and gave him to command to seek dope.  After Earl sniffed the second package he went into a sit which is his final alert for a trained odor.  Earl did not show any interest in the other 3 packages.  A search warrant was obtained and inside the package was 3 pounds of Marijuana wrapped in plastic and what appeared to be covered in mustard.  A controlled delivery of the package was set up and Earl came to do a sniff of the residence.  Inside the garage Earl alerted to a black bag containing one half pound of meth, 4 pounds of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $8,818 in cash.  Another pound of Marijuana was located hidden in a corner of the garage.  Vinson brought Earl to sniff a vehicle parked in the driveway and the K-9 gave a positive alert to the trunk.  Inside the trunk was a Tupperware container with approximately 7 pounds of Marijuana.  Also located inside the vehicle were 4 ecstasy pills.
